Yin Yoga - Online
In a world that is moving fast, it is brave to slow down.
-
Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative style of yoga that focuses on long-held, passive stretches. Rather than building strength through movement, Yin invites you to slow down, soften and gently work into the body's connective tissues, including the fascia, ligaments and joints.
We start our classes with some gentle movement to help you land in, and then each Yin posture is held for several minutes, giving your body time to release tension while your mind has the opportunity to settle. It's a practice of slowing down, tuning in and creating space - physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically.
-
Yin Yoga is a slow, floor-based practice that invites you to turn your attention inwards. Rather than focusing on what a posture looks like from the outside, the intention is to notice how it feels in your body. Over time, this practice of introspection helps you become more aware of your body's signals, creating a deeper sense of connection, curiosity and understanding.

My classes
Influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine and Fertility Yoga, my classes are designed around our cyclical nature, the changing seasons, and the meridian and organ systems of the body.
Together, we explore how movement, rest and self-care can support us through different phases of the menstrual cycle and seasons of life, while understanding the relationship between our emotions, energy and physical health.
My aim is to help you become more curious about your body, so you leave each class feeling more connected, more informed and more compassionate towards yourself.

Frequently asked questions about Yin Yoga
-
Unlike more dynamic styles such as Vinyasa or Power Yoga, Yin Yoga is about stillness and space rather than movement.
Poses are held for longer (typically 3–5 minutes), allowing the deeper tissues of the body to gradually release. There's no pressure to keep up, look a certain way or hold complicated shapes. Instead, the focus is on finding your own edge, supporting your nervous system and cultivating awareness of how your body feels.
Many people find Yin Yoga to be the perfect balance to busy modern life.

My classes are rooted in traditional Yin Yoga, but they're also deeply informed by my training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture, and in Fertility Yoga.
Rather than simply guiding you through stretches, I help you understand what's happening within your body. We explore the meridian pathways, how different organs are understood within Chinese medicine, the connection between emotions and physical health, and how our energy naturally changes with the seasons and menstrual cycle.
It's a body-first approach that invites you to become more connected, more informed and more compassionate towards yourself.

Of course! You don't need to be flexible to practise Yin Yoga. Every posture can be adapted using props such as bolsters, blocks and blankets so that your body feels supported.
Yin Yoga isn't about touching your toes or achieving the "perfect" pose. It's about turning your awareness inside, listening to your body and meeting yourself exactly where you are.
-
Yes. Yin Yoga is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced students. I'll guide you through each posture, so you can move at your own pace and adjust the practice to suit your body. There's no expectation to know yoga terminology or have previous experience.

For online Yin Yoga, please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily, you don’t need to wear tight clothing and, since our class is at night, pyjamas are very welcomed!
For the class, you will need a yoga mat and some supportive props, like blocks and bolsters. A blanket and eye mask for savasana can also be nice.
If you don't have yoga props, you can things you have a home: cushions or pillows from your bed or sofa or folded blankets. The most important thing is creating a comfortable space where you can fully relax.
I share a playlist so having a Bluetooth speaker to play this on can support the class.

Yes, many women find Yin Yoga especially supportive during their menstrual cycle.
Practising gently can help ease tension, reduce stress, support blood flow, and encourage you to slow down and listen to your body's changing needs. I always encourage you to honour how you're feeling on the day and modify or rest whenever you need to.
-
If you're pregnant, it's important to let me know before joining a class. My online Yin Yoga class is not a pregnancy class but with adaptions, it is safe for pregnancy. However, as needs change across each trimester, it is important you understand what you need depending on your stage of pregnancy and your previous yoga experience.
If you're unsure, please get in touch before booking and I'll be happy to advise.

Many people come to Yin Yoga because they're feeling overwhelmed, burnt out or constantly "on." The slow pace of the practice, combined with mindful breathing and stillness, can help calm the nervous system, reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, and create space to reconnect with yourself.

Women's bodies move through constant cycles and transitions, from menstruation and fertility to pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause.
My classes are designed with these changing seasons of life in mind. Influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine, I encourage you to work with your body rather than against it, honouring your energy, your menstrual cycle and your individual needs.
Rather than striving for perfection or looking a certain way from the outside, Yin Yoga becomes a practice of listening, understanding, connecting, and supporting yourself from the inside out.

One of the reasons I love Yin Yoga is because it gives us permission to slow down in a world that rarely encourages it, something that I see as vital when you're trying to conceive.
Whether you're trying naturally, preparing for IVF, or navigating the emotional rollercoaster of fertility treatment, Yin Yoga offers a space to pause, breathe and reconnect with your body during what can often feel like an overwhelming journey.
While Yin Yoga isn't a treatment for infertility or magic cure, many women find it becomes an important part of their fertility journey, offering emotional support, helping them regulate stress, and providing a regular opportunity to reconnect with themselves and their bodies.
-
Holding poses for several minutes allows the body to gently access the deeper connective tissues, while also giving the nervous system an opportunity to settle.
Rather than rushing from one posture to the next, Yin invites you to slow down, observe your sensations and practice being with yourself. Often, it's in this stillness that the deepest shifts take place.
-
Many of my students report a great and deep sleep after Yin Yoga. It is a great way to disconnect from your day and into a more restorative, night-time energy (a yin energy).
From both a nervous system and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, sleep is deeply connected to how safe, balanced and regulated the body feels. During class, we work not only with the physical body but also with the meridian system, helping to create the conditions for rest, relaxation and restoration.
While Yin Yoga isn't a treatment for insomnia or sleep disorders, many students notice that practising regularly helps them feel calmer, more relaxed and better able to unwind before bed.
-
Even one class a week can make a noticeable difference.
Like anything, consistency is more important than intensity. Some people enjoy practising weekly, while others like to weave shorter Yin sessions into their daily routine, especially before bed to support sleep.
Listening to your body is always more important than following a rigid schedule.

If you have booked in and you're unable to attend a live online class, you'll receive access to the recording so you can practice at a time that suits you. The recording is available for 7-days. The recording is sent out the day after the live class (Wednesday’s).

Yes. If you're booked onto one of my online Yin Yoga classes, you'll receive access to the class recording the next day. You can also access the recordings via the Inside Out Studio.
Many students enjoy returning to the same practice several times, noticing something different with each experience.

This is more common than you might think. Our bodies can hold onto stress, tension and emotion, and creating the space to slow down can sometimes allow those feelings to surface.
My classes are designed to be a safe, supportive space where you can honour whatever arises, whether that's deep relaxation, emotion or simply a much-needed exhale.
