WHY UNWINDING?

Fusing Yin, TRE, Chinese Meridian theory and embodiment, Unwinding takes a body-first approach to women’s health.

Your body keeps the score of everything you have been through. So, if it’s saying no to you through chronic pain, fatigue, digestive problems, constant illness, infertility or menstrual cycle challenges, it is trying to communicate that something is wrong. 

Western medicine may not always be able to locate the “issue” with scans and tests, but what if we could investigate further?

Taking a body-first approach works with the “thing” presenting the pain - your body. This course looks at your stress, your nervous system and the tension inside of your body to help you get to the root of what’s going on.

WHAT IS UNWINDING?

Unwinding is a somatic course to introduce you to TRE® and Yin Yoga, somatic, stress release tools to help regulate your nervous system and naturally shake off any tension and stress that is living inside of your body.

I have shared TRE with 100’s of women through 1:1, group and retreat settings. The power of these practices never cease to amaze me. There is (obviously) no research on this practice and women’s health, so what I share cannot be found in research papers.

What is TRE®?

Created by David Berceli, TRE® is body-first somatic self-care tool that works with the wisdom of the body to shake off stress and tension and rebalance the nervous system through natural, involuntary movements. 

  • Unlike the more conscious, top-down approaches of many other healing and therapeutic practices; talking therapy, yoga, Pilates, mindfulness, and general exercise, all of which are limited by the capacity of the conscious minds, TRE® hacks the innate, subconscious capacity of the nervous system to relax, release and heal. 

    TRE® enables to body to feel safe enough to discharge stress and tension and rebalance the nervous system without the conscious mind having to think about it. This releases day-day stress, as well as the imprint of past trauma and stress that is manifesting in the present day. 

    This practice is a chance for your body to debrief everything you have been going through, and, unlike talking therapy, there is no need to re-live or talk about past experiences and hurt, the body is simply able to release the imprint through the movements. 

    It is a body-based practice that you can learn and keep in your self-care tool box forever.

Why do we shake?

All mammals are designed to shake off stress. When an animal encounters a stressful experience, it will shake off to release the tension and then return to life as normal. The human body wants to do the same, but our logical brains have shut this off and we have learnt to suppress our innate healing wisdom. 

Shaking has been used in ancient and indigenous cultures for centuries, but modern western culture has long overlooked this wisdom. Our natural shakes and tremors are seen as a sign of stress, nervousness, anxiety, fear and weakness; however, these involuntary movements are actually a natural recovery reflex that we need.
